Hai Xia, 8, washes her clothes while Hai Bin, 13, cleans his shoes in the courtyard of the Children's Village in Dalian, China, on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. Hai Bin was hit in the head with a stone before he arrived to the Children's Village because his father was in prison. The children of China's 1.56 million prisoners are often neglected, as the stigma many Chinese feel about crime discourages many families from taking them in. The country also lacks clear laws governing guardianship of these children, prompting a number of non-governmental organizations to step forward and provide homes for them.
